惠特曼(1819-1884)美國(guó)詩(shī)人，1810年5月31日，華爾脫·惠特曼出生于美國(guó)紐約長(zhǎng)島的一個(gè)農(nóng)民家庭。因家庭經(jīng)濟(jì)拮據(jù)，他只讀過(guò)幾年小學(xué)，11歲就輟學(xué)了?；萏芈鲞^(guò)勤雜工、學(xué)徒、排字工人、鄉(xiāng)村小學(xué)教師、記者、編輯等?；萏芈拿裰髦髁x思想有兩個(gè)主要來(lái)源，少年時(shí)代，他多次聆聽(tīng)了他家?？屯旭R斯·潘恩的談話，后者激進(jìn)的民主傾向和空想社會(huì)主義的思想給他留下深刻影響，使他從小就立志成為一個(gè)潘恩式的民主斗士。成年以后，適逢超驗(yàn)主義運(yùn)動(dòng)興起，他為愛(ài)默生的學(xué)說(shuō)所迷醉，更加熱愛(ài)大自然和普通的勞動(dòng)人民，強(qiáng)化了自己的民主立場(chǎng)。

戴望舒(1905.3.5～1950.2.28)現(xiàn)代詩(shī)人。又稱(chēng)“雨巷詩(shī)人”，中國(guó)現(xiàn)代派象征主義詩(shī)人。戴望舒為筆名，原名戴朝安，又名戴夢(mèng)鷗。筆名艾昂甫、江恩等。 浙江杭縣( 今杭州市余杭區(qū))人。他的筆名出自屈原的《離騷》：“前望舒使先驅(qū)兮，后飛廉使奔屬 。”意思是說(shuō)屈原上天入地漫游求索，坐著龍馬拉來(lái)的車(chē)子，前面由月神望舒開(kāi)路，后面由風(fēng)神飛廉作跟班。望舒就是神話傳說(shuō)中替月亮駕車(chē)的天神，美麗溫柔，純潔幽雅。曾赴法國(guó)留學(xué)，受法國(guó)象征派詩(shī)人影響。

胡適(1891.12.17—1962.2.24)，漢族，安徽績(jī)溪人?，F(xiàn)代著名學(xué)者、詩(shī)人、歷史家、文學(xué)家、哲學(xué)家。因提倡文學(xué)革命而成為新文化運(yùn)動(dòng)的領(lǐng)袖之一。原名嗣穈，學(xué)名洪骍，字希疆，后改名胡適，字適之，筆名天風(fēng)、藏暉等，其中，適與適之之名與字，乃取自當(dāng)時(shí)盛行的達(dá)爾文學(xué)說(shuō)“物競(jìng)天擇適者生存”典故。胡適深受赫胥黎與約翰·杜威的影響，自稱(chēng)赫胥黎教他怎樣懷疑，杜威先生教他怎樣思想。因此胡適畢生宣揚(yáng)自由主義，提倡懷疑主義，并以《新青年》月刊為陣地，宣傳民主、科學(xué)才能救中國(guó)，畢生倡言“大膽地假設(shè)，小心地求證”、“言必有證”的治學(xué)方法。
